Hells Bells! - Bodybuilder demon enemy design

This was a fun brief I did with my collab group at uni. Hells Bells was an assignment that took gameplay influences from Gang Beasts + Fat Princess and artistic influence mainly from the Borderlands series. I was responsible for designing this demon enemy, general art direction for the team and a little level design (which was very rough).

Final colours chosen to fit within the enemy faction colours the team had decided on.

Here are a quick few iterations on the barbell weapon idea. Design 2 was chosen because we all thought the other designs started to not be identifiable as barbells and more just like clubs/spiked maces.

These are the initial sketches for the animal/human hybrid and gangster demon ideas I explored. Instead of animal hybrids, we soon decided to use animal masks instead because we wanted the demons to be on the more humanoid side.

Here are the very first sketches I did for this project, turned out pretty generic for demons but this can be expected from initial ideas.
